Nicolas Cage and director Andrew Niccol will team up again for the sequel to Lord of War , titled Lords of War ,
which will be produced by Vendôme Pictures. Cage will reprise his role as Yuri Orlov, while Skarsgård will play his son.
In Lords of War , Yuri Orlov, the world’s most famous arms dealer, discovers he has a son, Anton, who has no intention of making up for his father’s mistakes: he is trying to surpass him in his own field. Not only does he sell weapons, but he’s putting together an army of mercenaries to fight America’s wars in the Middle East. The film will focus on the bitter rivalry between father and son – even the same woman. Who will prevail between the two?
Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi ( CODA, Lord of War ) will produce for Vendôme Pictures, Cage for Saturn Films. Skarsgård will serve as executive producer. Shooting will start in the autumn, and the project will be presented on the market for the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival. Nicol said:
There is much more to be said about these characters. Plato said it well: “Only the dead have seen the end of war”. I can’t wait to spend more time in the company of that handsome devil Yuri Orlov and now his illegitimate son, who turns out to be not legitimate in any way.
