Shia LaBeouf has joined the cast of the action Mace , the new film by Jon Amiel ( Copycat, Entrapment ). He will opposite Trevor Jackson ( Grown-ish, Superfly ) in the film written by David Chisholm .
The film will focus on two very different police officers: on the one hand, Mace (LaBeouf), a corrupt and dangerously out of control veteran agent. On the other Virgin Woods (Jackson), a young recruit who believes he can change the system from within. Inspired by the episodes of racial injustice that have swept America, Virgin takes on Mace in the name of his principles, risking everything to stop the corrupt colleague after he starts a gang war to cover up his crimes. Everyone around Mace is in danger, and Mace tries to cover his tracks at any cost.
The film was supposed to star James Franco . We don’t know why there was this cast change (and no, it has nothing to do with Franco’s past, given that the actor was cast after the scandal that had engulfed him).
Produced by Meyers Media Group, the film will shoot in New Jersey in the coming months. Lawrence Steven Meyers, John Evangelides, Randy Dannenberg and Robert Maclean will produce. Brendan McDonald and Kirk D’Amico will serve as executive producers. Tribune Pictures will co-produce and co-finance the film.
