Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter will serve as showrunner. The revival will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, owner of the original series. The studio closed contracts with the stars before rolling out the project.

Aired between 1987 and 1997 on Fox (in the US), Married with Children is considered one of the most influential series ever and helped to revive the fortunes of the network as its first original series, establishing its predilection for comedies. cutting edges that would continue with The Simpsons and Family Guy .

At the heart of the original series, created by Ron Leavitt and Michael G. Moye , were the lives of the Bundy family: Al (O’Neill), a misogynist women’s shoe salesman, his lazy wife Peggy (Sagal) and their sons Kelly (Applegate) and Bud (Faustino).

For years Sony has been trying to put together a revival of Married with Children . Six years ago, Faustino had submitted a proposal for a series centered on Bud, who has returned to the old family home with his ex-wife and his best friend; Al and Peggy, after winning the lottery, would move to Las Vegas instead. But the actors never got involved, due to their busy schedules. An animated series on the other hand would be much easier to manage and would allow everyone to return without affecting their commitments too much.
