For some time there has been talk of a new live-action film on the Masters of the Universe , but it never went into production.
Now we learn that the project has passed into the hands of Netflix and the new protagonist has also been announced: this is the young Kyle Allen , recently seen in West Side Story . He will be He-Man and will take the place of Noah Centineo , initially involved in the film.
Behind the camera we will find Aaron and Adam Nee ( Band of Robbers ). The two also took care of the script, in collaboration with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ).
The statements of Robbie Brenner, executive producer of Mattel Films
Masters of the Universe is an iconic property that has shaped the imaginations of an entire generation of children with its message: to become the best version of yourself. With our Netflix partners we can’t wait to show the public that anything can happen to Eternia. We continue to expand this franchise in new ways and can’t wait to see Kyle fight Skeletor in this epic live-action saga.
The Masters of the Universe was born as a line of action figures produced by Mattel, becoming a real phenomenon in the 80s. The toys spawned several animated series, the spin-off She-Ra, the Princess of Power, and a live-action film, Rulers of the Universe , starring Dolph Lundgren , Frank Langella , and Courteney Cox .
