Meta has announced the closure of Tuned , an app created exclusively for couples.

As of September 19 of this year, the application will stop working, just two years after its launch.

What was tuned?

Tuned was a project of Meta ‘s New Product Experimentation (NPE) Team , which was originally formed to create consumer-facing applications that would allow the company to test new features and gauge people’s reactions.

Launched in the early months of the pandemic, Tuned positioned itself as a way for couples to stay in touch and engaged, with messaging features and quizzes designed to let them share how they’re feeling, what they’re up to and milestones you’re anticipating.

Through it, couples could exchange notes, photos, videos, audios, challenges and even music, trying to create a space of intimacy in the midst of social networks.

According to Sensor Tower , the app has only been downloaded 900 thousand times on Google Play and the App Store.

market competition

Tuned had competition from more established social dating apps like Between and Couply.

In addition, it did not have much promotion through traditional Meta apps such as Facebook or Instagram.

Its users have  started receiving a notification about the impending shutdown last week, advising them to download their data before September 19, when the app will stop working.
