Meta forecasts about $10 billion less revenue in 2022 from changes to iOS .
The financial reports of Meta (Facebook), presented on Wednesday have been little encouraging.
To lower revenue expectations, considerable losses in the AR/VR business and fewer users are added concerns about the advertising business of the company that owns Facebook , Instagram and WhatsApp due to the changes that Apple is bringing to iOS.
Apple hurts Meta
The arrival of iOS 14 gave users the freedom to choose to prevent apps from using their data. This will subtract quite a lot of earnings from Apple.
Dave Wehner, the company’s CFO , estimates that Meta will have $10 billion less revenue in 2022 due to these changes, which primarily affect the e-commerce segment.
Meta believes that Google is favored by Apple
Wehner highlighted in a call with investors and analysts that Google reported good numbers in the area of e-commerce unlike Meta.
The top executive believes that Google enjoys another deal from Apple , a company that effectively pays billions a year to appear as the default search engine on iPhones .
“We think that Google ‘s search business may have benefited somewhat as services like ours face different kinds of restrictions from Apple . And considering that Apple continues to receive billions every year from Google , the incentive clearly exists for this difference to continue.
