The evolution of Microsoft Edge does not stop. These are the new functions that the browser released in its compilation 93.0.961.38.
Google Chrome is the king of browsers in popularity, compatibility, and features. However, Microsoft Edge, based on the open-source Chromium project, is an ever-growing alternative. Its latest update introduces Picture-in-Picture mode (PiP, Picture in Picture), groups of tabs, and more.
From now on, when Microsoft Edge users hover over a supported video, a toolbar will appear, allowing them to move the playbox to a floating window. Of course, for now, this feature is only available for browser users on macOS.
Microsoft Edge also receives a feature highly valued by those who work with many open pages. In the browser now, it allows to group the tabs in different categories defined by the user. In addition, the system has been designed to be intuitive so that it is easy to find and switch between one and the other.
But that is not all. Microsoft Edge, which has long supported vertical tabs, now allows you to hide the browser’s title bar. To configure this option, the adjustment must be made in Settings > Appearance. In Customize toolbar, select the option to hide in portrait mode.
Microsoft Edge improves its advanced features
IE compatibility mode (Internet Explorer) receives ” no-merge behavior ” mode. When a user starts a window in IE mode, this will be a separate session, but the user will have to manually configure the list of sites that should prevent the sharing of sessions by default.
Microsoft Edge now also supports a limited number of Initial Preferences. This feature, little to IT administrators, allows you to set the configuration parameters available to users before they start the browser for the first time.
There is a new policy to stop implicit login. The ImplicitSignInEnabled approach allows system administrators to disable implicit login in Microsoft Edge browsers. A new policy to halt implicit login is also released.
Microsoft Edge already has other exciting features such as Collections, which allows you to track ideas directly from the browser. It also has a built-in tracker blocker, which can be very useful when it comes to protecting privacy.
Another of the browser’s strengths is its seamless integration with the Redmond ecosystem. It is possible to synchronize bookmarks, history, open tabs, and passwords on different devices through a Microsoft account. Precisely, Edge can be downloaded for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
