Minions 2 – How Gru Gets Despicable got $ 10.8M from previews, which started yesterday at 2p.m. 3350 theaters in North America.
Despicable Me is the film with the best percentage of critics on Rotten Tomatoes: 81%, the following 75%, the third for 59%. How Gru Becomes Despicable is for 69% positive, while Minions for 55%.
This is the best result for an animated feature film since the release of Toy Story 4 ($ 12M) in June 2019.

The Universal / Illumination film topped the Minions premieres ($ 6.2M, started at 5p.m.). The film grossed $ 46M (including previews) on opening day and $ 115.7M on its first weekend.

The film is estimated to gross $ 70M- $ 80M / $ 90M- $ 100M in four days from 4,391 theaters. Sonic – Movie 2 , which got $ 6.3M from previews, then opened with $ 72.1M in March of 2020.

Jurassic World: Domination took home $ 2.7M (-11% on Wednesday) from 4,233 theaters, bringing the total after 3 weeks to $ 316.1M, -9% compared to Jurassic World: Kingdom Destroyed at the same point. The total is $ 39.8M.
Black Phone ends its first week with $ 35.1M, after grossing $ 2.5M (-7% from Wednesday) from 3,150 sales.
The animated feature Marcel the Shell with Shoes , distributed by A24 and present in six cinemas between New York and Los Angeles, grossed $ 223,000.
Finally Lightyear grossed $ 1.57M (-31% from the day before) from 4,255 sale, ending the second week with $ 27.6M, for a total of $ 98.7M.
