Mission: Impossible 7 finally has a title.
The film, directed once again by Christopher McQuarrie, will be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1 .
This means that, unless there are subsequent changes (as happened forthe sequels to Spider-Man: A New Universe ), the eighth chapter will be titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 2 .
The news was revealed during the Paramount panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Tom Cruise appeared in a video message recorded on the set of the eighth film. Aboard a biplane flying over a mountain landscape, the actor and producer said: “Sorry for the noise. As you can see, we are shooting the last chapter of Mission: Impossible . We are making this film for the big screen and your fantastic cinemas ”.
Cruise’s biplane was then joined by another plane, on board which was director Christopher McQuarrie: “We have to go, we’re losing the light”. Cruise then greeted CinemaCon: “We’re all having a great summer.” McQuarrie yelled “Action!”, And both planes made a turn and then dived.
The description of the trailer
The CinemaCon audience was then able to see a teaser trailer of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1 . The cutscene begins with Henry Czerny ‘s Kittridge (returning from the very first film) giving Ethan Hunt a breakdown. “Your days of fighting for the greater good are over”, the man threatens. “This is our chance to check the truth… the concepts of right and wrong for everyone for centuries to come,” he continues. “You are fighting for an ideal that does not exist and has never existed. You have to choose your side “.
The trailer continues with a montage of locations, from Venice to the Vatican, then shows Cruise in the desert and a lot of hand-to-hand duels. Among them, one involving Vanessa Kirby ‘s White Widow on a train, and another Ilsa ( Rebecca Ferguson ). In another scene, an office is gassed. The trailer ends with Tom Cruise’s stunt already shown at the last CinemaCon , the one in which he throws himself off a cliff aboard a motorcycle.
The two films will be released on July 14, 2023 and June 28, 2024, respectively.
