Pachinko star Mari Yamamoto has joined the cast of the Apple TV + series set in Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse .
The actress will join the previously announced Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell .
For now there are no details about his character, but HERE you can read the descriptions of the others. We also know that the series will be set after the first Godzilla , following the battle that wreaked havoc in San Francisco, and will revolve around a family who discovers they are linked to the Monarch , a secret organization that studies giant monsters.
Directing the first two episodes we will find Matt Shakman ( WandaVision ), also executive producer. As we know, the MonsterVerse was inaugurated in 2014 with Godzilla , and then continued in Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). The success of the latter, with 467.8 million dollars grossed worldwide despite the pandemic and simultaneous distribution on HBO Max, prompted the studio to put the series in the pipeline.
There is also a new cinematic chapter of the MonsterVerse currently in the works, which will once again be directed by Adam Wingard ( Godzilla vs. Kong ) and starring Dan Stevens . Filming on the film has just begun in Australia, and the working title gives us a clue as to where the saga might take
