Last week we brought you news that amazed and delighted MonsterVerse fans : the Legendary narrative universe will continue with a live-action series for Apple TV + , where Godzilla and the other titans will return. The details are few, but we know that the plot revolves around a family who discovers they are linked to Monarch , the secret organization that studies giant monsters.
Well, Murphy’s Multiverse claims that the show is called Hourglass , at least for now: it sounds like a working title, useful for processing. Hourglass means “hourglass”, and the Monarch symbol actually resembles a stylized hourglass horizontally. Casting is underway, and filming is expected to take place from May to November. They will take place in Tokyo, Vancouver and Hawaii.
As we know, the MonsterVerse was inaugurated in 2014 with Godzilla , and then continued in Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). The success of the latter, with 467.8 million dollars grossed worldwide despite the pandemic and simultaneous distribution on HBO Max , prompted the studio to put the series in the pipeline.
Executive producers are Chris Black ( Star Trek Enterprise, Outcast ) and acclaimed cartoonist Matt Fraction , best known for his Hawkeye cycle . The two are co-creators of the show, while Black will act as showrunner .
