Tati Gabrielle , star of Uncharted, YOU, Kaleidoscope and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina , is in final talks to play Jade in the Mortal Kombat sequel .
Simon McQuoid , director of the first chapter, will return behind the camera, while the screenplay will find Jeremy Slater , screenwriter of Moon Knight and creator of The Umbrella Academy .
As we know, Karl Urban will also be in the cast as Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat was one of the films released by Warner Bros. simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max during 2021. Directed by Simon McQuoid , it was produced by the director together with Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh and James Wan .
The story of Mortal Kombat
Mixed martial artist Cole Young, accustomed to taking beatings for cash, is unaware of his origins – or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his finest warrior, Sub-Zero, a supernatural cryomancer, to give him the hunting. Concerned for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the suggestion of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same dragon mark Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Old God and protector of Earthrealm, who grants asylum to anyone who bears the mark. Here, Cole trains with seasoned warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and mercenary Kano, as he prepares to side with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a great battle for the universe.

The screenplay
The screenplay for the first chapter was written by Greg Russo ( Highwaymen ) and Dave Callaham ( Wonder Woman 1984, Shang-Chi ), while the story is the work of Oren Uziel ( Shimmer Lake, The Cloverfield Paradox ) and Russo himself.
