Kamala Khan ( Iman Vellani ) is in fact a Pakistani-American girl, and the Pakistani community plays a very important role in her stories: let’s not forget, in this regard, Kamala was the first Muslim superheroine to become the protagonist of a Marvel comic . The release in theaters of Pakistan is therefore a must, especially if we consider that Disney + is not yet available in the Asian country.

The poster portrays Kamala in her signature costume, sitting atop a Jersey City lamppost. Behind her you can see the skyline of nearby Manhattan, across the Hudson River.

I remind you that later Kamala will be the co-star of The Marvels with Carol Danvers ( Brie Larson ) and Monica Rambeau ( Teyonah Parris ). The latter has been postponed to July 28, 2023 , while the series will debut on June 8 on Disney + .

The synopsis

Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American from Jersey City. Aspiring artist, avid gamer and fan-fiction writer, she is a huge fan of the Avengers – and especially of Captain Marvel. But she Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world, at least until she gains superpowers like the heroes she has always admired. Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. The series is directed by executive producers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with executive producer Bisha K. Ali serving as head writer.

Ms. Marvel

Created in 2013 by Sana Amanat (editor), Stephen Wacker (editor), G. Willow Wilson (text) and Adrian Alphona (drawings), this version of Ms. Marvel is Kamala Khan , a Pakistani-born teenager living in New Jersey and , after the explosion of the earthly bomb, she develops inhuman powers: she thus discovers that she is a shapeshifter, capable of varying the size of her body (even of a single limb) at will. She is the first Muslim superheroine to become the protagonist of a Marvel comic series , and her splendid adventures have been appreciated for the excellent characterization of the characters, the surreal taste, the drawings of Alphonaand the freshness of the story, where millennials find redemption against the rhetoric of those who consider them a “lost” generation.

The cast

Iman Vellani will play Kamala Khan , star of the series. In the cast also Matt Lintz ( Bruno Carrelli ), Aramis Knight (Kareem / Red Dagger), Saagar Shaikh (Aamir Khan), Rish Shah (Kamran), Zenobia Shroff (Muneeba Khan), Mohan Kapoor (Yusuf Khan), Yasmeen Fletcher (Nakia Bahadir), Laith Nakli (Sheikh Abdullah), Azhar Usman, Travina Springer (Tyesha Hillman), Nimra Bucha, Randy Havens, Laurel Marsden (Zoe Zimmer), Alysia Reiner and Farhan Akhtar .

The direction

The episodes will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy , Meera Menon and the couple Adil El Arbi / Bilall Fallah .

The showrunner of Ms. Marvel

The showrunner is Bisha K. Ali , former screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral , the series based on the famous film by Mike Newell; she also contributed to an episode of Sex Education with “additional material”. It will be interesting to see her work on Ms. Marvel , also because Kamala Khan – a bit like Hawkeye ‘s Kate Bishop – will certainly make the leap to the big screen after her introduction on Disney + , perhaps joining the ranks of the Avengers .
