After yesterday’s clips , another scene from Ms. Marvel , a new series from Marvel Studios , is available .
It is morning in the Khan house , and Kamala ( Iman Vellani ) has to take the license exam.
Her mother Di lei Muneeba ( Zenobia Shroff ) reminds her to check the rearview mirrors every 15 seconds, while her father Di lei Yusuf ( Mohan Kapur ) tries to reassure her. Her brother Her Aamir ( Saagar Shaikh ) advises her to say “bismillah” before leaving: in Arabic it means “in the name of Allah”, and it is the sentence that opens the Koran. Kamala replies that he doesn’t even have a driver’s license.
I remind you that the heroine of Jersey City will later become the co-star of The Marvels with Carol Danvers ( Brie Larson ) and Monica Rambeau ( Teyonah Parris ). The latter has been postponed to July 28, 2023 , while the series will debut on June 8 on Disney + .
You can see the clip below:
Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American from Jersey City. Aspiring artist, avid gamer and fan-fiction writer, she is a huge fan of the Avengers – and especially of Captain Marvel. But she Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world, at least until she gains superpowers like the heroes she has always admired. Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. The series is directed by executive producers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with executive producer Bisha K. Ali serving as head writer.
Created in 2013 by Sana Amanat (editor), Stephen Wacker (editor), G. Willow Wilson (text) and Adrian Alphona (drawings), this version of Ms. Marvel is Kamala Khan , a Pakistani-born teenager living in New Jersey and , after the explosion of the earthly bomb, she develops inhuman powers: she thus discovers that she is a shapeshifter, capable of varying the size of her body (even of a single limb) at will. She is the first Muslim superheroine to become the protagonist of a Marvel comic series , and her splendid adventures have been appreciated for the excellent characterization of the characters, the surreal taste, the drawings of Alphonaand the freshness of the story, where millennials find redemption against the rhetoric of those who consider them a “lost” generation.
Iman Vellani will play Kamala Khan , star of the series. In the cast also Matt Lintz ( Bruno Carrelli ), Aramis Knight (Kareem / Red Dagger), Saagar Shaikh (Aamir Khan), Rish Shah (Kamran), Zenobia Shroff (Muneeba Khan), Mohan Kapoor (Yusuf Khan), Yasmeen Fletcher (Nakia Bahadir), Laith Nakli (Sheikh Abdullah), Azhar Usman, Travina Springer (Tyesha Hillman), Nimra Bucha, Randy Havens, Laurel Marsden (Zoe Zimmer), Alysia Reiner and Farhan Akhtar .
The episodes will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy , Meera Menon and the couple Adil El Arbi / Bilall Fallah .
The showrunner of Ms. Marvel
The showrunner is Bisha K. Ali , former screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral , the series based on the famous film by Mike Newell; she also contributed to an episode of Sex Education with “additional material”. It will be interesting to see her work on Ms. Marvel , also because Kamala Khan – a bit like Hawkeye ‘s Kate Bishop – will certainly make the leap to the big screen after her introduction on Disney + , perhaps joining the ranks of the Avengers .
