Marianne and Cormac Wibberley , screenwriters of the films, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are involved in the project. Mira Nair participates as a director. The series will examine modern themes such as identity, community and patriotism, told from the point of view of Jess Morales , a 20-year-old immigrant girl who, with the help of a diverse group of friends, sets out on the adventure of life in search of a lost treasure and the origins of his family.
A Latin protagonist
Jess is a girl of Latin origins, a central point in this new project. She is also a DREAMer, meaning she is part of a government program created in 2012 under the Obama presidency and designed to allow people illegally led in the United States, such as children, to enjoy, study and work temporarily in the USA. Jess will take over from Benjamin Franklin Gates , the hero played by Nicolas Cage in the films directed by Jon Turteltaub . In the cast we will find Justin Bartha , who in the film saga played the role of Riley Poole .
