Netflix Gets It Right In The US: Charging Extra For Shared Profiles Causes A Rise In Users

Despite the fact that in the rest of the world the number of subscribers has fallen, in the US the pressure to create new accounts is being positive for the numbers of Netflix .

The measures imposed by Netflix to end the shared accounts of the service have achieved positive numbers in the United States, one of the few countries where the number of new accounts in the world is growing.

According to data from analytics firm Antenna, Netflix saw a sharp increase in account signups after the rule went into effect in the US and many other regions in late May.

Antenna says that Netflix had the four biggest days of subscriptions in the US in the four and a half years it has tracked this data.

On May 26 and 27 there were almost 100,000 registrations each day. During each of the four days, the company saw an average of 73,000 new memberships, a 102% increase over the previous 60-day average.

Although there were also a large number of unsubscribes, new accounts far exceeded these numbers.

Netflix ‘s stock price rose after the firm released the data. It should be noted that these numbers are not official and we will not have an official response until the end of the quarter with the streaming company’s own results.
