Netflix exceeded its expectations for growth in Q3 2022 by up to more than a million.
Netflix has announced its financial reports for the third quarter of 2022 and has managed to grow by 2.4 million subscribers in that period.
The number is very good news for the company, since growth of only one million subscribers was expected for the period between July and September.
Netflix has had a troubled 2022, with a significant drop in subscriber numbers in the first two quarters of the year.
However, the same company foresaw an increase for the last two cycles of the year, driven by its series and by the new affordable model with advertising.
The announcement of its results has helped the company to the stock market, which has seen a 12% increase in its shares.
It currently has 223 million subscribers worldwide.
Now, with a better outlook, Netflix is making changes to how it monetizes.
Netflix announced that from this Tuesday the function that asked for “Add a house” for an extra amount for those subscribers who wanted to share their account with friends or family is eliminated, after numerous criticisms from users and influencers. This will apply in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
Of course, now it will try to apply a model similar to the one in Peru with ‘extra members’: “Instead, we will focus on making it easier for people who share an account to transfer their profile when starting their own membership, and for all members can manage their devices and create sub-accounts (‘extra member’) easily, if they want to pay for family or friends. These functions will start to be available in early 2023”, they added.
Strictly speaking, the two are not different, although the streaming giant found that its features were more widely accepted in the territories in which it was tested. A specification that makes its use easier is that it allows you to create a subaccount with an independent profile, with individual user and password access, and personalized recommendations.
