Netflix will now require a faster internet connection and these will be its new requirements

Netflix , currently the most popular video streaming platform , is preparing a large number of new features for this month, the most relevant being the Basic plan with ads for selected countries. With the inclusion of this plan, the company behind the service also mentioned that there will be changes in the minimum speed required to play content such as movies and series in high quality and without cuts.

By updating its terms of use , Netflix revealed that the minimum download speed that our Internet connection must have to enjoy its assorted catalog in conditions will now be at least 1 Mbps for standard quality (SD), at least 3 Mbps to stream content in high definition (HD) and about 15 Mbps for Ultra HD resolution (equal to or greater than 4K).

Internet speed standard for Netflix changes

While these parameters were previously a recommendation, since the new minimum standard will now be HD for all Netflix subscriptions , the true minimum requirement will become a download speed of 3 Mbps. However, we recommend a higher speed for better video quality. A download speed of at least 3.0 Mbps per stream is recommended to receive HD content (defined as a resolution equal to or greater than 720p). A download speed of at least 15.0 Mbps per stream is recommended to receive content in Ultra HD (defined as a resolution equal to or greater than 4K). You are responsible for all internet connection charges. Check with your internet provider for information on possible charges for internet data usage. The time it takes to start watching Netflix content varies based on several factors, including your location, the bandwidth available at the time,.

How much will Netflix’s cheap plan cost?

Netflix ‘s Basic plan with ads will arrive on November 10 and will be available first in 12 countries: Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom before be released worldwide.
