Ozark , the Netflix series created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams.
Is preparing to return with a fourth and final extra-large season: in fact, there will be fourteen episodes that will make it up, instead of the usual ten. For this reason the series will be divided into two sections: the first half has just made its debut on the platform, the second will arrive in the coming months.
Where were we
Season 4 of Ozark picks up where we left off, with Marty and Wendy Byrde further entangled in Omar Navarro’s ( Felix Solis ) operations as they try to escape the Missouri Ozarks. Their past, however, continues to haunt them.
From what we have seen in the teaser and then in the trailer, the Byrde will have to deal with a terrible car accident; they will have to act as intermediary for an agreement between Navarro and the FBI; Ruth uses Jonah to launder dirty money and the boy proves he is talented. And as if all of this weren’t enough, they’ll have to watch out for Javi Elizonndro ( Alfonso Herrera ), Navarro’s obedient lieutenant who is plotting to take control of his uncle’s cartel.
The trailer
Let’s review it together.
Two seasons for the price of one
Showrunner Chris Mundy told TheWrap that the decision to split the final season in two was made by Netflix.
We always thought five would be the total number of seasons. We didn’t want to repeat ourselves, we didn’t want the series to continue just because a TV series has to continue. So, really, the decision has always been “Will it be four or five?”, And then Netflix proposed: “We’ll do four but we’ll make the fourth longer and divide it in two.” And it seemed perfect to us.
Mundy added that, however, he and his writers have always considered the two stints as two different seasons:
During the writing phase, we called episodes 401-407 and 501-507, because we wanted to think of them the way viewers would see them, while keeping in mind that sooner or later someone would see them all together. It’s a pretty complicated thing: they had to seem like one thing but they also had to be satisfying for those who would see the first seven and then wait months for the following. We wanted to make sure they looked complete.
Speaking of the fourth season, Jason Bateman said:
A bigger season equates to bigger problems for the Byrdes. Can’t wait to finish with a bang
