PRIME VIDEO FRANCE CLOSES AN AGREEMENT WITH WARNER AND SONY FOR PREMIUM TITLES

Prime Video France has closed two important agreements with Warner Bros.

Discovery and Sony Pictures for the distribution of premium content on the platform in France.

The agreements were made thanks to the executive Sahar Baghery , who joined Prime Video in 2018 as head of commercial development for France and the MENA region.

She was subsequently appointed Head of Worldwide Commercial Development. Most recently, she led Amazon Studios’ EMEA programming strategy.

Warner Bros. Discovery

The deal with WBD gives Prime Video first-run rights in France to exclusive television series such as Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin , the first two seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls , the Ava DuVernay DMZ miniseries and the first season by Peacemaker .

Including several titles from the WBD library , on a non-exclusive basis. Including Pretty Little Liars, Fringe, One Tree Hill, The Originals, Shameless and the first three seasons of Legacies .

The deal with Warner Bros. Discovery will begin at the end of the year. Recall that the new streaming service that combines Discovery + and HBO Max in France, will not arrive before 2024 . France is one of the company’s key European markets which has commissioned several original drama series that are not part of the deal with Prime Video .

Sony Pictures

With Sony Pictures the deal was closed for subscription rights for the second window of motion pictures.

Prime Video will have access to Sony Pictures ‘ flagship titles 17 months after theatrical release, after the first subscription window, in accordance with strict French window rules.

They will be part of the deal: Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom – The Wrath of Carnage and Morbius .

The deal also covers premium films like Uncharted and Ghostbusters: Legacy and family films like Peter Rabbit 2 , and French films like Operation Portugal and A Mermaid in Paris .

The first Sony Pictures titles will be available on Prime Video France starting later this year.
