Qualcomm Announces New Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with Power Efficiency and Improved Speed

Qualcomm is introducing two new chipsets , the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 , promising faster mobile computing with much better power efficiency.


Qualcomm is not standing still. After enjoying huge success with its previous flagship mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 , topping Antutu ‘s ranking charts in several categories, the US company is bringing out an updated iteration. 

Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 comes with important features such as 8K HDR video capture and the CPU is 10% faster than the previous iteration, with maximum clock speeds up to 3.2GHz , they also indicate that the GPU is benefits from a 10% speed increase, while power efficiency is 30% higher than the 8 Gen 1. 

Qualcomm claims that performance per watt on the 8 Plus Gen 1’s AI processor is 20% better and SoC power management has improved by around 15%, which translates to an additional hour of gaming or an additional 80 minutes of gaming. video streaming compared to the previous version.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 continues the tradition of phasing out premium silicon features to a more affordable chipset, with better AI camera features for facial recognition and support for up to 200MP cameras, up from 190MP on the latest chip in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 series. 700 series.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will primarily power fast, gaming-focused phones launched outside of the United States, which will start arriving in the second quarter of 2022.


According to the company, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 will start rolling out in the second quarter of 2022, alongside the new mid-range 7 Gen 1. While Qualcomm didn’t list specific devices, it did mention that Honor , Motorola , Realme , Redmi , and OnePlus will launch phones with the new chipsets.
