Rebel Moon could have been part of Star Wars

The director also revealed to Vanity Fair that the film was initially pitched to Lucasfilm with the idea of making it a Star Wars chapter . Snyder explained:

I was in post-production with Man of Steel . I had heard rumors about three possible new [ Star Wars ] movies at one point. My idea was that, if they gave me the IP, I would make this beautiful film, and not meddle in what they were doing.

Snyder met with Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy , and then-studio head, Alan Horn . Lucasfilm found his idea promising, but ultimately it didn’t work out. Being based on an original idea, Rebel Moon was therefore easily spun off from the Star Wars saga and transformed into a project in its own right.
