Xiaomi completes the podium among cell phone brands before a second quarter with low sales for the entire market.
Figures for the European cell phone market have corroborated a general decline in sales of these devices in the last quarter.
According to figures from Counterpoint Research , 40.3 million cell phones were shipped in the second quarter of 2022, a dramatic drop from the 56.6 million registered in the last quarter of 2021.
The market analysis firm indicates that a deteriorating economic climate and geopolitical uncertainty hit the sale of cell phones in Europe and in the world.
Sales down, but leaders remain
According to Counterpoint Research , Samsung shipped 13 million cell phones, earning a 32% market share.
Apple is the second brand with the most shipments with 9.6 million iPhones , which represents 24%.
Both Samsung and Apple were affected by their withdrawal from Russia in the face of the invasion of Ukraine .
Xiaomi closes the podium with 7.5 million cell phones shipped (19%).
The analysis firm’s report also highlights OPPO , including OnePlus , (5%) and Realme (3%).
Other cell phone brands have the remaining 17% of the market in Europe.
How have things changed compared to 2021?
Regarding 2022 market shares, Samsung increased its share from 27% to 32%.
Apple also managed to increase its presence in shipments to Europe , from 21% to 24%.
Instead, Xiaomi lowered its shipments from 27% to 19% of the market.
