Amanda Seyfried will be the protagonist of Seven Veils , the new film by Atom Egoyan.
who had already directed her in Chloe – Between seduction and deception . Shooting will start next week in Toronto.
Seyfried will play Jeanine, a theater director tasked with re-staging her former mentor’s most famous work, the opera Salomé . Plagued by disturbing memories, Jeanine lets the traumas of her past affect her present as she returns to the world of opera after so many years.
Seven Veils is written and directed by Egoyan, who also produces alongside Niv Fichman, Simone Urdl, Fraser Ash and Kevin Krikst . The film is produced by Rhombus Media and Ego Film Arts, with the participation of Telefilm Canada and in association with Cinetic Media, IPR.VC, XYZ Films and Canadian Opera Company.
Aram Tertzakian, Nate Bolotin, Maxime Cottray and Nick Spicer will executive produce for XYZ, along with John Sloss of Cinetic Media and Noah Segal and Adrian Love of Elevation Pictures. Egoyan said:
I first produced Salomé for the Canadian Opera Company nearly thirty years ago and her themes haunted me. I have been dreaming of this project for years and it is exciting to find Amanda again after the fantastic experience we had together on the set of Chloe .
