A huge success, which will most likely materialize in a sequel.
And it seems that the director already has ideas in mind for a second chapter. Interviewed by ComicBook , Finn said:

I made Smile making it a self-contained film that told its whole story. I never imagined there could be so much demand for a sequel. I think in any case that there are things in the film that have not been consciously explored and it would be very exciting to be able to explore them. Even things that I couldn’t do in the first film due to budget constraints or because they didn’t fit perfectly with the story.

However, the director left out of wanting not only to repeat the formula of the first film, the sequel will be a film capable of surprising the public:

However, I don’t want to repeat myself or do the same thing, but I think there can be very exciting ways to explore the world of Smile, something decidedly unexpected, capable of surprising the public.
