As we know, Peter Dinklage , historical interpreter of Game of Thrones , has proved decidedly against this project, according to him linked to a backward and stereotyped representation ( HERE you will find more information). Disney
‘s response immediately came , which wanted to specify that for this new version of the story he will use a different approach, far from the stereotypes present in the animated film:
To avoid reinforcing the stereotypes present in the original animated film, we decided to use a different approach with these seven characters. We had members of the dwarf community as consultants. We will reveal more details when the film goes into production, after a long period of development.
As revealed by The Wrap , to avoid the stereotypes Disney has decided to replace the dwarves with “magical creatures” and is currently engaged in the search for the actors who will lend the voices to these characters. It is not yet clear if they will have the same role as the dwarves in the original story and if they will keep the same names.
The film is directed by Marc Webb ( The Amazing Spider-Man ), with Marc Platt ( La La Land , the remake of The Little Mermaid ) producing.
