The featurette instead features the sequel, with the voices of cast and director Jeff Fowler .

I remind you that the Italian release is expected on April 7th . You can see the clip and the featurette under the official synopsis:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic can’t wait to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero.

The new challenge is not long in coming: Dr. Robotnik is back with a new ally, Knuckles, who will help him in the search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilization. With his new adventure partner Tails, Sonic embarks on a journey around the world to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Confirmed the returns of Ben Schwartz ( Sonic ), James Marsden ( Tom Wachowski ), Tika Sumpter ( Maddie Wachowski ), Jim Carrey ( Doctor Ivo Robotnik ) and Lee Majdoub ( Agent Stone ). They will be joined by Shemar Moore .

The sequel will introduce Tails and Knuckles . Colleen O’Shaughnessey , who plays Tails in video games, also voices him in the film. Knuckles is portrayed by Idris Elba .

Screenplay, production and direction

The screenplay is again the work of Patrick Casey and Josh Miller . Also returning are Neal H. Mortiz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara as producers, and Haijime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller as executive producers. Jeff Fowler is still directing .

The success of the first film

Sonic grossed $ 306 million worldwide against a budget of 95, and is the highest-grossing video game adaptation in North America. Even the digital release – anticipated for the Covid-19 emergency – went very well. The project was saved at the last: we remember that the first design of the blue hedgehog was heavily criticized by fans, butParamountlistened to them and changed it, making it more faithful to the original.

A video game icon

Sonic , created in 1991 by SEGA to compete with Nintendo’s Mario, has been the protagonist of numerous video games and five television series ( The Adventures of Sonic, Sonic, Sonic Underground, Sonic X, Sonic Boom ), three short films ( Sonic – Man of the Year, Sonic Christmast Blast, Sonic: Night of the Werehog ) and an OAV ( Sonic the Hedgehog , freely inspired by the game Sonic the Hedgehog CD ).
