Netflix has in fact announced that the selections are open for Squid Game: The Challenge , a reality show that will see a series of competitors (456 to be precise) from all over the world intent on facing particularly difficult (but not fatal, of course) tests for win a cash prize worth $ 4.56 million.

The series

Squid Game is a Korean series created byHwang Dong-hyuk(writer and director), which proposes itself as a bizarre mix of Battle Royale and Hunger Games … but with childish games instead of the more reckless Royal Rumble.

The plot

Here, in a nutshell, the premise of the series:

A mysterious invitation to participate in the competition is sent to people in dire need of money. The 456 participants from all walks of life are trapped in a secret place where they compete to win 45.6 billion won. At each turn they play a popular Korean game for children like “One, two, three, star”, but whoever loses… dies. Who will win and what is the real reason for the race?
