Over the course of Paramount Investors Day , JJ Abrams spoke about the new Star Trek movie , confirming.
The return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and the rest of the original cast. Filming will begin later this year.
We are very happy to announce that we are working hard on the new Star Trek movie, we will begin filming later this year and will see the return of the original cast, plus some new characters that will be fantastic and help take Star Trek to uncharted territory.

Matt Shakman to direct
As we know, the film will be directed by Matt Shakman , who is highly regarded for his work on WandaVision . It seems that the director has chosen Star Trek among numerous offers received lately, a sign that Hollywood has set its sights on him. Production will again be handled by Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot , while Lindsey Beer ( Sierra Burgess is a loser, The Magic Order ) and Geneva Robertson ( Tomb Raider, Captain Marvel ) wrote the final draft.
