STAR WARS: DAVE FILONI’S FILM COULD BE TITLED HEIR TO THE EMPIRE

According to MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter, the title should be Heir to the Empire . A title that carries with it a great weight within the saga.

Heir to the Empire is in fact the first chapter of a literary trilogy, known as Thrawn Trilogy or Heir to the Empire Trilogy , written by Timothy Zahn between 1991 and 1993, now no longer canonical. Sequel to the classic trilogy, this series of novels brought back the three original protagonists, Luke, Leia and Han Solo, and pitted them against Grand Admiral Thrawn, later recovered in Star Wars Rebels . Thrawn, as we know, will return in the series Ahsoka , where he will be played by Lars Mikkelsen , the same actor who voiced him in the animated series.

Now, it is clear that Dave Filoni aimed to put Thrawn back at the center of the saga, exploiting his potential as “heir to the throne” after Palpatine’s defeat. If this news is confirmed, it would be further proof that Filoni’s New Republic film will be an alliance between the TV characters, and that Thrawn will be the great threat to be foiled. It remains to be seen whether this film will launch a new trilogy or whether Filoni will get to rejuvenate Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford and resurrect Carrie Fisher for, if nothing else, cameos. Unlikely, but not impossible.

In any case, this news should be taken with a grain of salt: we await further confirmation.
