Mark Hamill is ready to hang up his lightsaber. During an episode of CBS Sunday Morning.
the actor revealed that he has had enough of Luke Skywalker and that he is certain that the Star Wars saga no longer needs him. Here’s what he said:
I’ve had my moment, and that’s good. But that’s enough.
It’s not a definitive closure, though. Hamill leaves a crack open:
Well, never say never. But I just don’t see why. Let’s put it this way: they have so many stories to tell, they no longer need Luke.
We last saw Mark Hamill as Luke in The Book of Boba Fett , where he briefly trained Grogu, whom he’d taken away with him in The Mandalorian ‘s memorable season 2 finale . The character sacrificed himself heroically in Star Wars: The Last Jedi , but that’s not to say he can’t return as a Force Ghost again. Especially now that Lucasfilm has a new Rey movie in the works . And then there’s always Dave Filoni ‘s New Republic film , in which Hamill may be rejuvenated yet again, though his own words seem to suggest that won’t happen. We’ll see.
