A few weeks ago we learned that the Stranger Things season 4 finale was going to last over two hours .
Now, on the Twitter profile of the Stranger Things writers’ room , the official confirmation of the duration of the episode has arrived. Lately rumors of Fantozzian proportions had spread about the length of the finale: there was even talk of two and a half hours. The reality is slightly different: 2 hours and 19 minutes. Which is still a very long time for an episode of a “TV series”.

Basically, the Stranger Things season 4 finale will last like a blockbuster cinematic, like a random movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this regard, the brothers Matt and Ross Duffer , creators of the series, had stated:
One of the main reasons is that we have characters in three different locations and there are a lot of things going on in the storyline. Almost four times the storyline of season three. We call it the blockbuster season. Since we knew the series would end with season five, we started unveiling a lot of subplots with season four. And the more we wrote, the more we realized that it took time to tell everything right, to make sure that everything ended up in the right place. We asked Netflix to make nine episodes instead of eight, and we realized during the shoot that they were going to be very long. The seven and the nine are basically movies and the nine is a very long movie.
Episodes 8 and 9 of Stranger Things 4 will arrive on Netflix on July 1st.
