Marisa Fotieo, a teacher from Michigan, was traveling from Chicago to Reykjavik, Iceland , on vacation when she felt a sore neck.

The woman decided to use a rapid test kit that she had on hand and found she had COVID-19 in mid-flight on December 20.

Fotieo decided to isolate himself in one of the bathrooms on the Icelandair plane .

“There are like 150 people on this flight and my biggest fear was infecting them,” he told Today .

That is why the woman decided to quarantine one of those on the plane for the rest of the flight, about five hours.

Fotieo shared the facilities of his quarantine “VIP room” on TikTok .

According to him, the crew member Ragnhildur “Rocky” Eiríksdóttir was very helpful. Giving him drinks and food, as well as constantly checking on how he was doing.

Upon arriving in Iceland, the woman isolated herself in a Red Cross hotel, where Eiríksdóttir sent her flowers and a small tree with lights to enhance her Christmas in this peculiar situation.
