THE BATMAN 2, REEVES AND TOMLIN ARE WORKING ON THE SCRIPT

The revolution in the DC house will not affect the plans for the sequel to The Batman :

The cinematic universe of Matt Reeves will in fact remain separate from the DC Universe of James Gunn and Peter Safran , so the director can work independently on the second chapter of the saga.

The sequel doesn’t have a release date yet, but Reeves is writing the script with Mattson Tomlin , who is already working on the first film (uncredited). The filmmaker spoke to Collider , who asked him if he would be shooting anything this year: at first, Reeves tried to dodge the question.

I won’t answer that question, but we’re working on a movie. Let’s put it this way.

Later, however, he unbuttoned himself a little more:

We’re immersed [in the project], my partner and I are writing it, Mattson and I are writing it, and it’s very exciting, I’m excited about what we’re doing.

Obviously Robert Pattinson will return in the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman :

I’m really excited to be doing the movie with Rob. I think he is a special person and actor.

We have no idea what the plot of the sequel will be, nor which antagonists the Bat Man will have to face. However, we know that in development there are a series on the Penguin , one on Arkham Asylum and – it seems – also one on the Gotham City Police Department (that is, the first spin-off ever, announced well in advance of the film’s release , but the Arkham project seemed to have replaced it).

We will keep you posted.
