The rumor has been circulating for a few days, but now Variety offers us more details: The Batman will last 2 hours and 47 minutes WITHOUT credits. With the headlines, it should go up to 175 minutes.
Matt Reeves ‘ film will then become the longest Batman ever, even surpassing The Dark Knight: The Return of Christopher Nolan , which stopped at 165 minutes (including titles). Furthermore, it will rank third among the longest cinecomics ever, behind Avengers: Endgame (181 minutes) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (242).
It will be interesting to find out how such a duration will be handled, being a relatively small storyline (meaning, not a story where the threat is global). Obviously, three-hour films are not uncommon in the genres of crime and drama, just think of the 157 minutes of Zodiac or the 170 of Heat . Moreover, the version of the Riddler played by Paul Dano draws inspiration from the Zodiac Killer, and the film was set up as a police investigation: Matt Reeves wants to give Bat Man back his image of “the greatest detective in the world”, as in the origins.
I remind you that the Motion Picture Association predictably assigned it a PG-13 rating, as you can read here . The release is expected for March 3, 2022 in Italian cinemas.
