THE FABELMANS: DAVID LYNCH IN THE CAST OF SPIELBERG’S AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL FILM

A really interesting and unexpected news: David Lynch has joined the cast of The Fabelmans.

The autobiographical film by Steven Spielberg . His role is unknown, but his casting is reminiscent of another famous case in Spielberg’s filmography: the time he cast director François Truffaut in Close Encounters of the Third Kind . We will update you when we know more.

The film

The Fabelmans will hit US theaters on November 23 this year, over Thanksgiving weekend. The story is loosely based on the director’s childhood in Arizona in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The time when the young Steven Spielberg discovered his great passion for cinema and directing, starting to direct Super 8 movies with the help of his father and his friends. Given the personal nature of the project, Spielberg wrote the script in person with Tony Kushner , who has already written for him Munich , Lincoln , West Side Story and the never made The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara . It is the first time since AI – Artificial Intelligence, twenty years ago, that Steven Spielberg wrote a film.

The cast

Paul Dano plays the father of the protagonist, inspired by the figure of Arnold Spielberg , an electronic engineer who died in 2020 at the age of 103. Michelle Williams is the mother, while Seth Rogen is the favorite uncle. The cast also includes Judd Hirsch ( Taxi , The Goldbergs ), Jeannie Berlin ( Succession , Hunters ), Robin Bartlett ( American Horror Story ) and Jonathan Hadary ( Veep ). According to Variety, the four play the “elderly relatives” of the young aspiring director Sammy, played by Gabriel LaBelle .
