THE FIRST LADY: THE TRAILER FOR THE SHOWTIME SERIES ABOUT THE WIVES OF US PRESIDENTS

Showtime has released the trailer for The First Lady , an anthology series focusing on the wives of US presidents.

Viola Davis will play Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer will play Betty Ford and Gillian Anderson will play Eleanor Roosevelt in this ten-episode series, all directed by Susanne Bier ( Bird Box, The Undoing ). Here is the trailer ..

The cast

The First Lady is written by Aaron Cooley ( Best. Worst. Weekend. Ever. ). The cast also includes  OT Fagbenle as Barack Obama, Kiefer Sutherland as Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Aaron Eckhart as Gerald Ford. Additionally, Judy Greer will play Nancy Howe, Betty Ford’s confidant and secretary, and Dakota Fanning will play Susan Elizabeth Ford, daughter of Betty and Gerald Ford. Finally we will see Ellen Burstyn, Cailee Spaeny, Rhys Wakefield and Eliza Scanlen . Executive producers, in addition to Susanne Bier, are Viola Davis, Julius Tennon , Andrew Wang ,Cathy Schuman , Jeff Gaspin and Brad Kaplan .

The synopsisIn the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most important and influential decisions have been made behind the scenes, by the charismatic, complex and dynamic first ladies. This series will delve into the personal and political lives of these enigmatic women, with the first season focusing on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama.

The First Lady will debut in the US on April 17.
