Double distribution in Italian cinemas also for The First Slam Dunk , the film which marks the directorial debut of the mangaka Takehiko Inoue .


AnimeFactory has announced that the film will be available in the original language and subtitled in Italian only for one day, May 10th . While it will be possible to see it dubbed from 11 to 17 May .

Last weekend The First Slam Dunk climbed to 27th place in the Top 100 highest grossing films of all time in Japan, becoming the 11th Japanese animated feature film ever, surpassing Hayao Miyazaki ‘s The Wind Rises .

The synopsis:

Ryota Miyagi and basketball have always been one. His love for this sport was transmitted to him by his older brother Sota, who died in an accident at sea when Ryota was still small. Ryota is the point guard of Shohoku, a team that earned a place in the national tournament as the representative of Kanagawa Prefecture despite being an unknown high school. Ryota is ready, together with his teammates, to face the “unbeatable” Sannoh, the champion team of the national tournament.

The Story of Slam Dunk

The work is based on the SLAM DUNK manga, published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from number 42 (1990) to number 27 (1996).

On May 20, 2021  Planet Manga  (Panini Comics) concluded the publication of the shinsou saihenban edition of the  Slam Dunk manga , by  Inoue Takehiko,  consisting of 20 numbers.

Hanamichi Sakuragi, impressive physique, bright red hair, reputation as a hooligan and a sad record in the sentimental field: in fact, he was downloaded by 50 girls during middle school!
A bad curriculum with which to land at Shohoku high school, but fate has the face of the beautiful Haruko and she is about to ask him a fateful question: “Do you like basketball?”.

The series has sold more than 120 million copies in Japan, was adapted into a 101-episode anime series that aired from 1993 to 1996.

The voice actors

Here are the voices of the main cast:  Shugo Nakamura  (Ryota Miyagi),  Jun Kasama  (Hisashi Mitsui),  Shin’ichirō Kamio  (Kaede Rukawa), Subaru Kimura (Hanamichi Sakuragi),  Kenta Miyake  (Takenori Akagi).

The staff

Inoue Takehiko  is directing the film and is the author of the screenplay. The character designer and animation director is  Yasuyuki Ebara  (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress).

The technical directors are: Katsuhiko Kitada  (Attack on Titan episodes, Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot),  Naoki Miyahara  (Digimon Adventure, Popin Q),  Toshio Ōhashi  (LayereD Stories 0),  Fumihiko Suganuma  (episode director Shirobako) and  Yū Kamatani  ( Looking for Magical DoReMi, Precure Super Stars!).

The sound director is Yota Tsuruoka . The opening theme is sung by The Birthday group while 10-FEET will sing the ending theme “ Dai Zero Kan “.

The film, animated by  Toei Animation  (the same studio that made the animated series in 1993) and by  DandeLion Animation Studio , was released in Japanese theaters on  December 3 .
