Another permanent cast member of The Flash will leave his position after season 8.
We are talking about Jesse L. Martin , present since the first season in the role of detective Joe West, father of Iris West ( Candice Patton ) and mentor and father putative of Barry Allen ( Grant Gustin ).
From season 9, confirmed by The CW, Martin will therefore no longer be regular , but recurring. That means we’ll see him again, just not in all episodes.
Martin was one of the last four actors who have remained fixed since the first season. The others are Grant Gustin, Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker . All four contracts expired at the end of Season 8. Gustin’s has already been renewed. Patton and Panabaker are in talks.
Martin has now been cast in the lead role in the pilot The Irrational , which will arrive on NBC. The contract will allow him to shoot at least five episodes of The Flash . The Irrational pilot will be shot in late May / early June in Vancouver, where The Flash is also shooting . Written by Arika Mittman , the pilot is based on Dan Ariely ‘s book Predictably Irrational. At the center is Alec Baker, a world-renowned professor of behavioral psychology, who lends his knowledge of human nature to a series of cases involving governments, multinationals and law enforcement. Baker finds bread for his teeth in a suspect of domestic terrorism that puts his world in crisis.
