Marvel Studios tends to be very protective of their films, and in fact the press only gets to see them a few days before release (not counting the embargoes.
which require journalists to maintain strict confidentiality). Well, DC Studios is aiming for a very different strategy for The Flash .
In fact, Variety reports that Warner Bros. will screen the film at the upcoming CinemaCon , expected in Las Vegas from April 24 to 27. It is rare for a comic of this magnitude to be presented almost two months before the official release, but the studio has great faith in this cinematic adventure of the Scarlet Sprinter. James Gunn himself , head of DC Studios with Peter Safran , described it as “arguably one of the greatest superhero films ever made”, so expectations are high.
Obviously there is the risk that some spoilers leak out on the net, but it could serve to fuel expectations. Also, if indeed the DC Universe takes another direction thanks to Gunn ‘s plans , The Flash may not contain big revelations about the future (it’s only a guess, so take it with a grain of salt). Beyond these considerations, the previous blockbuster unveiled last year at CinemaCon was a certain Top Gun: Maverick , which then had a huge success with the public: in short, an encouraging precedent.
We don’t know what decisions the studio will make about the future of The Flash , especially considering protagonist Ezra Miller ‘s legal troubles . Since the actor “has stayed out of trouble since the beginning of his mental health treatment,” as Variety reported just recently, some Warner executives would be inclined to stick with him. Gunn and Peter Safran have also declared themselves possible.
The release in Italian theaters is expected on June 14th . We will keep you posted.
Flashpoints
The film is inspired by Flashpoint . In the comics, Barry Allen goes back in time to prevent the murder of his mother Nora , and distorts the timeline of the DC universe , finding himself in a very different present: in this timeline , he never became the Flash and Earth lives a deep crisis situation, also because many superheroes are no longer superheroes; Wonder Woman and the Amazons, for example, have conquered the United Kingdom, while Aquaman has devastated Western Europe with a tidal wave to annex it to his rule. Batman exists, but behind his mask is Thomas Wayne, not his son Bruce , who was killed during the infamous robbery. Let’s not expect, however, a faithful transposition.
Director and cast
The screenplay is by Christina Hodson ( Bumblebee , Birds of Prey ), while the direction is handled by Andrés Muschietti ( La Madre, IT ). The cast includes Ezra Miller ( Barry Allen / Flash ), Kiersey Clemons ( Iris West , historic romantic interest of Barry ), Maribel Verdú ( Nora Allen , mother of Barry ), Michael Keaton ( Tim Burton ‘s Batman ), Ben Affleck (the Batman byZack Snyder ), Sasha Calle ( Supergirl ), Ron Livingston ( Henry Allen ), Saoirse-Monica Jackson , Rudy Mancuso and Ian Loh ( Barry child).
A troubled project
Seth Grahame-Smith , Rick Famuyiwa and the duo of Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley took turns directing the project , before coming to Muschietti .
Flash to the cinema
Meanwhile, Ezra Miller played the Scarlet Sprinter in Justice League . However, Barry Allen ‘s film debut took place in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , where he appeared in a double cameo.
