Here is the poster of The ignorant fairies , the series created by Ferzan Özpetek starting from his eponymous film .
All episodes – eight in total – will be available exclusively from April 13 on Star within Disney + .
Written by Ferzan Özpetek, Gianni Romoli, Carlotta Corradi and Massimo Bacchini and directed by Özpetek himself, who will also participate as showrunner, the series will consist of 8 episodes, lasting 50 minutes each. 4 of the 8 episodes will be directed by Gianluca Mazzella, Ozpetek’s collaborator for over twenty years.
The cast
Cristiana Capotondi is Antonia
She runs a medical laboratory. She is Massimo’s wife, she has built an intense and exclusive relationship with him. A sudden tragedy and the knowledge of Michele and her group of friends leads her to a profound psychological and sentimental change.
Eduardo Scarpetta is Michele
He paints the backdrops of the performances of the Opera. His home is the vital center of a group of friends who form an extended family. The meeting / clash with Antonia, to elaborate a common mourning, calls into question his entire love life.
Luca Argentero is Massimo
He directs an export-import. Beautiful, seductive, in love with both Antonia and Michele. He is the Storytelling Voice. The sudden absence of him turns into a constant presence in the feelings of others and determines their behavior.
Carla Signoris is Veronica
Mother of Antonia. She is the widow of a general. She is a bourgeois, spoiled, cheerfully reactionary woman. Intrusive but nice. Through her daughter, she too manages to open up to a way of thinking and living that she did not even suspect her existence.
Serra Yilmaz is Serra
A little bit administrator of the Palace, a little bit translator. She is the moral center of the House, the ‘mother hen’ of all, despite the sincerity of her rough outspoken language she does not spare anyone. An ancient pain in her leads her to try to resolve a sentimental knot from her past.
Deniz Burak is Asaf
Serra’s nephew. A well-known photographer of both fashion and war, he arrives like a hurricane in the House, trying above all to overwhelm Antonia’s life. Handsome, charming and nomadic by nature, he soon becomes a lifeline for some of them.
Paola Minaccioni is Luisella
She has a fruit and vegetable shop and temporarily lives with Mara. She is convinced that she is the copy of Brigitte Bardot. She is devastated in love, she always chooses the wrong men and does it on purpose. When she gets the right one, she risks not recognizing it. She is nice, cheerful, electric, a little naive.
Ambra Angiolini is Annamaria
Astrologa and Cartomante, she lives with Roberta who forces her to deal with a new way of loving. Having to make a difficult decision, she goes through a 360-degree path of sentimental growth, discovering that every love relationship has many stages of transformation and growth.
Anna Ferzetti is Roberta
Psychologist, she lives with Roberta. She is rational and very caring towards the Group, she suffers from having to hide her weaknesses and her need to be looked after sentimentally. She launches a very strong emotional challenge, questioning the rules of love and betrayal.
Edoardo Purgatori is Riccardo
He works in the Bank and with Luciano he forms the most regular, square and ‘normal’ couple in the House. But behind so much normality, he hides the worm of insecurity and a denied jealousy that forces him to make a choice that he would never have embraced.
Filippo Scicchitano is Luciano
Young Accountant. With Riccardo he has formed such a symbiotic couple that it is almost impossible to distinguish one from the other. He is super organized, has friends in every field of work, ready to involve them if those of the House need it. He knows how to get what he wants.
Lilith Primavera is Mara
She has a Dyeing shop. Escaped from her family of origin who did not accept that she was a Trans of hers, she finds herself forced to deal with her own pain when she is confronted above all with her great enemy: her mother. She is not afraid of anything, she faces the prejudices of others and discrimination in a bold and often surprising way.
Edoardo Siravo is Valter
Retired for some time, he taught Michele to work as a background painter. He is the Jiminy Cricket of the House. Cynical but never censorious, he intervenes on everything with a biting and often ruthless humor, which hides a melancholy aftertaste. He eagerly feeds on the stories of others.
Samuel Garofalo is Sandro
He works in the carpentry of the Opera laboratory but is also finishing his university studies. Unrequited in love, he has found a second family in the House, in which to grow up without the fear that his feelings about him will be judged. He is the youngest of them all, but also the most tech-savvy. Everyone considers him the ‘puppy’ of the house.
Maria Teresa Baluyot is
Filipino Nora Maid at Antonia’s house, with whom she has a formal relationship of mutual respect for roles, but also sympathetic. She rejoices and suffers from what happens to Antonia. However, she is haunted by Veronica’s intrusiveness, who often uses her to check or discover the secrets of her daughter.
Patrizia Loreti, Giulia Greco and Mimma Lovoi are the Three Marie
Women of the people who often stationed under Michele’s house, between one shopping and another, on their favorite bench. They know everything about everyone and comment in a cheerful but also shameless way on everything they presume happens in that House. Sympathetic, comical, unstoppable, they are a sort of external Chorus to the main events.
The plot of the series
When Massimo, Antonia’s husband, is killed in a car accident, the woman discovers that her husband was having a homosexual relationship with a man named Michele. Antonia, devastated by the news, will find herself making an unexpected and moving friendship with Michele and his circle of eccentric friends.
