The Killer follows a skilled assassin who, on his latest job, accidentally blinds a nightclub singer. To pay for the operation that would restore her sight, the killer agrees to assassinate a prominent triad boss, but is betrayed and framed. The killer is thus forced to team up with a policeman to set things right.

It is not known, for now, which of the two main roles Omar Sy will play, whether the killer or the policeman, nor how faithful the new version will be to the original.

The Killer remake was written by Matthew Stuecken and Josh Campbell ( 10 Cloverfield Lane ), with Eran Creevy ( Autobahn ) and Brian Helgeland ( Payback, A Knight’s Tale ) also credited . Sara Scott , Universal’s Senior Vice President of Production Development, and Jacqueline Garell , Creative Development Executive, will oversee the project for the studio.

The Killer is coming to Peacock in 2023.
