The Last of Us , the HBO series based on the famous Naughty Dog video game.
It is already a great success, to the point that HBO has decided to renew it after only two episodes.
Developed byCraig Mazin(Chernobyl) andNeil Druckmann, creator of the game, the series stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as protagonists Joel and Ellie, who embark on a journey across an America devastated by the spread of a fungus that transforms people into aggressive monsters.
Francesca Orsi , Executive Vice-President of Programming at HBO, said:
Craig and Neil, along with executive producer Carolyn Strauss and the rest of our phenomenal cast and crew, defined a genre with the masterful debut season of The Last of Us . After the success of this unforgettable first season, I can’t wait to see this team surpass themselves with season 2.
Druckmann added:
I am honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and are passionate about our new take on Joel and Ellie’s journey. Partnering with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO has exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it all again with Season 2! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog and PlayStation, thank you!
The first episode of The Last of Us has been viewed so far by 22 million people, five times the number of viewers of the premiere, last January 15th.
