THE LORD OF THE RINGS: AMAZON SUSPENDS REVIEWS AFTER WAVE OF REVIEW BOMBING

The first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The long-awaited series inspired by Tolkien’s work, arrived on Prime Video and Amazon immediately had to do the you are facing a wave of review bombing.

To be clear, the term review bombing describes a certain online phenomenon, which sees groups of people united in negatively evaluating a product to boycott it, limiting its sales (or vision).

In the case of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power , the series found itself with 84% positive reviews from critics and a paltry 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. part of the public, for example.
Some have defined it:

An affront to true fans, the person responsible for this disaster should be arrested.

What would review bombing be related to? That the series features an inclusive cast, for example, which had been severely attacked by many Tolkien fans since the first announcements, sparking a heated online debate that has apparently not subsided.

Amazon , which has invested heavily in this production, has therefore decided to run for cover. How? By suspending user reviews for 72 hours. Will this be enough to stop the wave of negative reviews? We don’t know, but taking into consideration another recent review bombing victim, She-Hulk , there is a decline in negative reviews from the public over time.
Amazon’s hope is that the haters will tire soon and that the public’s vote will soon find its balance.
