The Rings of Power has just ended ( HERE our review of the finale), leaving us in suspense after a great twist that will make the wait for season 2 very long.

Fortunately, net of criticism, the first season proved to be a success, and Amazon is already working hard on the second. But what do we know about next season so far? Let’s find out together …

NOTICE: SPOILER ON THE FINAL OF THE FIRST SEASON OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS !

The cast

As far as we know, all the main performers of the series will return: Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Joseph Mawle (Adar), Morfydd Clark  (Galadriel),  Maxim Baldry (Isildur) ,  Owain Arthur (Durin IV),  Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Ismael Cruz Córdova (Arondir),  Ema Horvath (Eärien), Lloyd Owen (Elendil), Daniel Weyman (the Stranger), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Miriel), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Peter Mullan (Durin III),Trystan Gravelle (Pharazon) and Charlie Vickers (Sauron / Halbrand).

We know that in season 2 we will see a new character, Círdan , described as the oldest and wisest of the elves. But we still don’t know who will play him, although the actor has already been cast.

The shooting

The processing of season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power began on October 3. We don’t know how long it will last. The production moved from New Zealand to the UK, and in particular to Bray Studios in Berkshire, some forty kilometers from London. Amazon has made these studios one of its production centers. It is likely that the processing also invests natural areas for exteriors.

Do we have a release date?

No, we currently don’t know when the season will debut on Prime Video.

What will season 2 be like?

Not much is known, but some interesting things told her by executive producer Lindsey Weber at Deadline . Specifically, it will be a “cruder, more intense, perhaps even a little scarier” season. Especially since there is a fundamental difference compared to season 1: “Our main villain has been revealed and […] he is working on his plans”. Obviously we are talking about Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers .

Speaking of Sauron, showrunner JD Payne told The Hollywood Reporter that the second season will do with Sauron what the first one did with Galadriel, wondering who Sauron is, where he comes from and what motivates him.
