Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is intended to defend your phone screen against falls.
The Corning company has announced the new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 , the new generation of glass that will be present in a large number of cell phones soon.
This innovation is promising a detail that is not minor for everyday use: protecting equipment from falls of up to 1 meter onto cement or concrete.
maximum protection
According to the company, this glass will present great protection against scratches, even “four times more than the competition.”
The change that is being made in terms of the previous generation, which also supported falls from the same height, is the material: concrete is much more rigid, so it could cause cracks in the entire screen.
The meter of height is the average size of people’s waist and pocket.
But if we are not talking about concrete, the screen can withstand drops of up to 2 meters, just like on asphalt. And if you’re clumsy, even 20 1-meter falls in a row.
“Manufacturers say that 30% of phone drops are usually onto concrete,” a Corning executive told The Verge .
they arrive soon
Gorilla Glass Victus 2 could arrive this same 2023 on high-end cell phones, although it has not yet been confirmed by any brand or team.
Currently, the glass is still undergoing tests, so it will be a matter of time to hear about the first equipment in which it is available.
