Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has ruled out once and for all wanting to run for president of the United States.
A now recurring joke (also fomented by the fact that, in the autobiographical series Young Rock , the actor is indeed a candidate) and a hypothesis that Johnson had never liquidated. Till now.
Interviewed by Tracy Smith on CBS Sunday Morning, The Rock said the nomination is “out of the question”:
Yes, that’s out of the question. I say this because it would require a “side B” to all of this [the acting career].
Dwayne Johnson added:
I love our country and all those who live there. I also love being a dad. Being a dad is the most important thing to me, it’s number one, especially at such a critical time in my daughters’ lives. Because I know what it means to be always on the road and so busy that I am not present in the first years of my first daughter’s life.
The actor concluded by saying that for him “the most important thing is to be a dad”.
Previously, Dwayne Johnson had not ruled out the possibility of running for president. His statements had also sparked reflections on the possibility that The Rock could reunify a political landscape strongly split by the Trump presidency. But evidently paternity is involved between saying and doing.
