The sound of his wings , sixth episode of The Sandman , has been much appreciated by fans for its reflections on death:
it is in fact the episode in which Dream ( Tom Sturridge ) accompanies his sister Death ( Kirby Howell-Baptiste ) while she performs the his job, and learns a lot from his relationship with humans. Well, now a deleted scene from that episode is available.
Neil Gaiman announced the video on twitter with a small introduction, co-written by him with co-creators Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer :
In the spirit of the holidays, we have a gift for the best fans in the world: something with Death & Dream.

There’s another world that awaits us when we close our eyes to sleep… a place called the “dream realm,” where the master of dreams Sandman (Tom Sturridge) shapes our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is suddenly captured and held captive for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will forever disrupt the sleeping and waking worlds. To restore order, he will have to cross universes and timelines to correct the mistakes made in his long existence, rediscovering old friends and enemies and also meeting new cosmic and human entities.
The first season will have ten episodes, and will adapt the stories Preludes , Nocturnes and The Doll’s House . The pilot was written by showrunner Allan Heinberg with Neil Gaiman himself and David S. Goyer . The latter are also executive producers. Some installments will be directed by Toby Haynes ( Doctor Who , Sherlock , Black Mirror ).
The cast includes Tom Sturridge (Morpheus), Gwendoline Christie (Lucifer), Vivienne Acheampong (Lucienne), Charles Dance (Roderick Burgess), Sanjeev Bhaskar (Cain), Asim Chaudhry (Abel), Boyd Holbrook (Corinthian), Jenna Coleman (Johanna Constantine), David Thewlis (John Dee), Stephen Fry (Gilbert), Patton Oswalt (Matthew), Joely Richardson (Ethel Cripps), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death), Mason Alexander Park (Longing), Donna Preston (Despair), Niamh Walsh (young Ethel Cripps), Kyo Ra (Rose Walker), Razane Jammal (Lyta Hall), Sandra James Young (Unity Kincaid) and Eleanor Famyinka (Rachel) .
An ambitious project
It seems that the agreement between Netflix and Warner Bros. Television to make Sandman is “very massive”: some sources already describe it as “the most expensive TV series ever made by DC Entertainment “.
Allan Heinberg created the Young Avengers comic for Marvel, but has already worked on the small screen in series such as Family Five, Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls, The OC, Grey’s Anatomy, Looking, Scandal and The Catch , as well as writing the blockbuster Wonder Woman for Warner and DC Films.
A legendary comic
The original comic was published by DC Comics (through the Vertigo label ) between 1989 and 1996, and tells the story of Sogno , an anthropomorphic personification of dreams and stories. Her often tragic and painful adventures also include her brothers and sisters, the Eternals , who represent various aspects of the human experience such as Destiny, Desire, Despair, and Delirium ; furthermore, the Sandman tales include many figures drawn from cultural and religious traditions around the world, from Lucifer (later to become the protagonist of another comic series) to Odin , fromAzazel to Calliope .
