Multiple feature films dedicated to the Smurfs will be produced in the coming years, thanks to an agreement signed

Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation , through a creative partnership with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS .

The first project is an animated musical produced by the four labels, production will begin this year and the film will be released on December 20, 2024. The screenplay will be the work of Pam Brady (co-writer of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Team America: World Police).

Ramsey Naito , President of Animation for Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said:

“Nickelodeon is home to some of the most popular family franchises in the world, and we’re honored to add The Smurfs to that list. We’re thrilled to tell a story that stays true to its origins, but with a Puff-tastic musical twist that will thrill new audiences and build on the Smurfs franchise and a universe of wonderful characters and stories. ”

The film will be the second title in the franchise made in computer graphics by Nickelodeon Animation . The search for the main creative figures, including the director of the first film, is underway.

Previous hybrid feature films produced by Sony have grossed more than $ 1.1 billion worldwide.
