The Tender Bar | Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan are in the first film trailer directed by George Clooney

Film is based on the memoirs of Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, and will be released by Amazon.

Amazon has released the first trailer for “The Tender Bar” , a new film directed by George Clooney , starring Tye Sheridan and Ben Affleck . Watch above (no captions).

The feature is based on the eponymous memoir by JR Moehringer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, following his life from childhood to early adulthood.

The synopsis describes: JR (Sheridan) is a fatherless boy, growing up under the glow of a bar where the bartender is his uncle Charlie (Affleck), the smartest and most colorful demonstration of quirky father figures. As her mother (Lily Rabe) struggles to offer opportunities she herself has not had – also struggling to get out of her outraged father’s house while reluctantly supportive (Christopher Lloyd) – JR begins to pursue his professional and loving dreams, with a persistent foot always at his uncle Charlie’s bar.

The cast still features Max Martini, Max Casella, Sondra James, and Briana Middleton.

Clooney, director of the recent  Midnight Sky  , directs from the script adapted by William Monahan ( “The Infiltrators” ). Clooney also produced with Grant Heslov.

“The Tender Bar” made its world premiere at the London Film Festival earlier this month. The film will be released in U.S. theaters in December, and will hit Amazon Prime Video on January 7, 2022.
